Anyone have Dell 2405FPW user guide?

#1 Post by plagenz » Thu Jun 22, 2006 9:44 am

Dear Friends:

I would like to buy the Dell 2405FPW monitor to use with my ThinkPad T42p (via dock DVI connection), but I'd like to read the User Guide first and Dell does not post it online.

If you happen to have the User Guide and would be willing to email it to me, I'd much appreciate it! I'm trying to figure out if I can use this as an HDTV display (connecting it to a cable box) as well as a computer monitor.

Thanks,
Joel

Many thanks, Draco and James! This User Guide tells me most of what I wanted to know.

From another forum I learned the 2405FPW isn't HDCP-compliant, so I can't connect a cable box to it via DVI -- only via composite.

I don't know enough about HDTV to know how much I'd lose via composite, but I may look around for a similar monitor that is HDCP-compliant.

Best,
Joel

Get yourself a decent flat screen HDTV that's PC compatible, something like a 26" Samsung.

Please put your location in your profile Joel, I know who you are!

Oh, and by the way Joel, feel free to send me that 2405FPW when you finally replace it with that 26" Samsung; after you fill in your location in your profile first that is. ;) :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Thanks again! I've now updated my profile ... and I'll search for LCD TVs that have the same native resolution as the Dell.

Maybe one of Samsung's products even uses the same LCD panel as the Dell and adds HDCP -- but so far I haven't figured out the difference between the Samsung 242MP and the Samsung 244T.
