Bluetooth LED after Upgrade

#1 Post by TheOnys » Fri Jun 23, 2006 6:41 pm

I recently installed the bluetooth III upgrade card on my 2378-REU along with the clear plates that include the place for bluetooth.

Everything works great as far as I can tell, I can connect to my cell phone, grab files, etc but neither bluetooth LED comes on the laptop itself. At first I was just using whatever driver windows XP picked for the bluetooth card but installed the IBM drivers today.

Has anyone else done the upgrade on a 2378-REU or had a similar problem? thanks
Jeff

Umm ... when I added internal bluetooth to T42 the LED works right off the bat without doing anything special.

Hmm.. I'm starting to think it's a problem with the card I got. I can't seem to use the modem on it either. If I try to use the modem it tells me the port is already in use.

Did you buy an ORIGINAL IBM card? Or a third party one?

I had a card on my ex-T42 and I started having the modem message although the BT was fine - I was later told the modem side was fried. Did you get yours on eBay - there is no way you can tell if it is working or not until you try it? If it is still under warranty why not send it back for replacement?

I did buy it off ebay, talked to the seller, he said he took it out of a x40(that didn't have a bluetooth LED). He sent along the proper modem drivers and the modem works fine now but still no LED. With both the modem and the bluetooth working fine, I'm not going to worry too much if the LED won't light up.

I've electrically tested the LEDs themselves and they work; perhaps I'll start checking out various parts of the board itself to see if I can track it down.
