Need XP driver for "mini pci wireless combo" A30/A

#1 Post by BeemerBiker » Sat Jun 24, 2006 11:34 am

There is no driver listed at lenovo http://tinyurl.com/fyb8e
I do see one for an intel chipset but my mini-pci card is 26P8472
which "replaces 12P3637 and 26P8092" as shown in another lenovo document to be the "high rate wireless.." . The card is not recognized when put into my thinkpad. I do see at A30/A31 parts list: http://tinyurl.com/ktlbx that firmware is available for 2000 and xp . One would think that a driver is available or it would be recognized.

I do not have the 3com or the intel version. seems I have that so called "high rate wireless/modem combo" Has anyone got this card or can give me any pointers to getting it to work?

Software for "High Rate Wireless LAN Mini PCI combo card". Then run the firmware update.

Thanks James, I went ahead and downloaded that driver even though there was no mention of wireless. It did install a wireless adapter utility named TNET1130 Driver but i still get the yellow bang in system. I attempted to install that firmware upgrade and got "IBM High Rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo Card Cirmware has encountered a problem and needs to close. I went ahead and had it tell Micro$oft about the problem.

I have a win98 disk, will try to boot up and install the firmware under win98

I do not have and A30/A31, I bought the card and am attempting to use it on an A22M. Not sure if that contributers to the problem. I did get an asus mini-pci wireless card to work but it did not have a modem and I need one for this system.

1/2 Solved: the firmware update would not install under XP, SP2. I put in an old win98se boot drive and was able to upgrade the firmware. During the upgrade the devices were recognized as "longshine". Installation required that the notebook reboot. When it did, a PC-DOS ram A drive was created with flash.exe and the hex code needed. Unfortunately, it was not possible to copy the files to a real dos bootable floppy.

The program listed by James above would not execute on an A20M or A22M and I found the individual downloads as follows

High Rate Wireless lan mini-pci ibm driver download
http://tinyurl.com/k7lxy (firmware link is on the same page)
I confirmed this to work with my 26P8472 min-pci adapter.

I tried modem software http://tinyurl.com/lmbl6 and it did not work.
tpmd1g2x.txt indicates the lucent win modem was for AL Modem II and Intel(R) PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter which is seems not my mini-pci card. I need to get the modem to work but am quickly running out of place to look
