T41p.......UK Pound sign ?

#1 Post by dd » Mon Aug 09, 2004 2:56 pm

Hi

I was wondering if there is a certain key combination that gives me the UK pound sign on the USA version of the thinkpads...........without doing " insert character"...................

Im getting quite used to the USA layout.........

Thanks

You live in the UK right? Why not buy an UK English keyboard from IBM to save all the hassles...I bought from Bill then changed the keyboard to a French one - piece of ****, sorry, cake - AND it's far easier to use a keyboard you've been familiar with for 10 years...(oh yeah, cost me 40€ including post - 'bout £25)

The Ascii Code for the "Pound Sign" is 156, this should be acheivable with
the Key combination

ALT + 156

That means you must hold down the ALT key then press the number keys in order - 156, then release the ALT key.

Obviously if you have remapped the ALT key this wont work.
It will not work using the "AltGr", which can be found on many european keyboards either.

The symbol for the Tugrik is a double barred T as follows

This symbol on the Mongolian Cyrillic Keyboard does not need a combination
as it is the the key where the number 4 would be on you keyboard.

You can verify this using MS OnScreen Keyboard and by loading the Mongolian Cyrillic alphabet in your language bar.

Hopefully during your next "voyage" you will be a little less confused.

N'e prendre pas trop serieux ce que je dit.

Hi,

Just use IBM Keyboard Customizer program under "Special character input". I use it for £ with my US keyboard.

You can download from the link below"

Peut-être il est associé à Ivanhoe Mines "core assets are its 100%-owned Oyu Tolgoi Project (Turquoise Hill) in southern Mongolia and exploration rights that it holds or controls covering approximately 111,000 square kilometres in central and southern Mongolia." [They claim there's 30 billion pounds of copper and 15 million ounces of gold in them thar hills.]

That can't be true, the Americans would already have claimed that Mongolia possessed weapons of mass destruction, invaded the country,
created the largest hole in Mongolia, sent out tenders for reconstruction,
"protected all the gold and copper sites", won all the tenders, then pronounced Mongolia as the 53rd state. And all in the name of Liberty, Freedom and the American dream.

Sorry folks just couldn't help that after seeing M Moores little "film".
