Leaving Ultrabay Slim empty?

#1 Post by andyk » Mon Aug 09, 2004 3:50 pm

Can anyone think of any ill effect if I leave the Ultrabay Slim empty? The only thing I can think of is if something conductive falls into it, but this seems rather unlikely. Maybe it doesn't look as nice, but I'd rather not spend the $20 + shipping:

Plus, by leaving it empty, it's easier to lift up the laptop on the keyboard bezel. :)

Thanks!

it's ugly to leave open...........and the bezel provides some additional "support" inside the system.

Dust will become a problem - dumb move to save $20 on a $2000 system.

yeah, i initially balked at the 20 price tag. but I looked ALL over for this thing to see if i can get it cheaper, but no dice.
Found one site who had it for 29.

compulock worked pretty good actually, got here in a reasonable time, shipping wasnt outrageous.

When u take out the cd/dvd drive and feel its weight, it doesnt feel that heavy, but the travel bezel def makes it noticeably lighter.
to the detriment of when i put the drive back, it feels like it weighs a ton.
