T22 Svideo TV-out, how? I only got a 7 pin port not a 4pin

#1 Post by bigtiger » Sun Jun 25, 2006 9:04 pm

A search found that some people got 7 pin out. One T22 I have only got a 7 Pin port. No, it is not a serial port. I know this.

I connected with a 7 pin video cable from Dell. I know many dell laptops have this kind of video out, like Dell 4100, 8100, 8000, C610 etc.

Can any T22 users confirm this? If you have a 7 pin port, can you connect it to TV?

I am pretty computer savvy but really cannot get this done. By the way, I installed the right video driver from IBM.

My T22 has the same port. Here some instruction from IBM:

Connect the TV first and then start the machine.

BTW: Use the search function, there a some discussions on that matter.

Thank you, Orevin,

yes, I know that link. I did used the search function but most people seem to have a 4 pin out port.

Do you mean you have the 7 pin?

I found the TV part is greyed out and I cannot choose. I did reboot the machine.

Yes, I have the 7pin port and use a Dell cable. I actually haven't seen the 4pin connector yet...
Was the TV running, when you restarted the laptop?

Thank you. I am glad that you have the 7 pin.

Yes the TV is running when I rebooted my laptop.

Anyway, now I know the Dell cable works And I will continue searching for solutions. Hopefully it is not the video card that is at fault.

The difference between the 4 and 7 pin S-Video plugs is that the 7 pin connector also has AUDIO capability and is normally referred to as "PRO S-Video", while the 4 pin connector does not have audio.

The 4 pin plug will connect properly to a 7 pin connecter, it simply won't carry any audio, just video.

If you can't get the TV to work following the directions at the link Orevin provided, then you have the wrong video driver installed for your system.

Ok, thank you, will try it out tonight.

I didnot notice that a normal Svideo cable will go to a 7 pin plug. Excited to know.
