T40 Touchpad & Scrolling

#1 Post by Studio_Two » Mon Jun 26, 2006 2:31 pm

Hello,

I have a ThinkPad T40 (2373) and quite often, just using the touchpad causes the page (normally a web page or a document in ms word) to scroll violently up / down (rather than moving the mouse cursor around).

What am I doing to cause this? I can't see how I am catching any other keys / buttons by mistake.

TIA,
Stephen

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

On the right hand edge of the touchpad, there is a scroll-hotzone. Meaning that, any movement tracked by the touchpad in that area will cause a proportion scroll of the text in the same direction. It can be disabled or moved to the other side of the touchpad via the UltraNav driver.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Thank You for the nice welcome and the sound advice!

I've used the forums quite a bit, but this was the first time I couldn't find an answer by searching.

You are correct about the "hot zone" down the right hand side - I would never have found it!

I must keep catching it as I swipe my finger across.

When I was trying to reproduce the problem, I was just trying different things (tapping and such like), but always in the center of the pad.

Thanks a million!

Stephen
