Removing XP, Centrino labels

#1 Post by roybishop » Mon Aug 09, 2004 11:22 pm

I just got a new T42 2378-DUU...quite a nice upgrade from my old i-Series. I find the metallic Intel Centrino and Designed for XP labels distracting. On previous systems they peeled off easily but this seem to attached permanently. I'd like them off but don't want to damage the keyboard palm rest.

Has anyone successfully removed these? If so I'd appreciate a tip. Thanks!

roybishop,

I took a sharp knife and "flicked" up a corner of each label. Once I
could get a handle onto them they came off fairly easily for me. After
removing I used the labels themselves to repeatedly press the sticky
back parts onto the area where they were originally located. This
helped me to remove any excess gum on the palmrests. It worked well
for me but YMMV.

Cheers,
Kludgey.

I restuck the "Powered by WinXP" sticker on my flaky Nortel Meridian office phone. Poetic justice.

Mine wasn't even stuck on properly. Peeled them off carefully and now they reside on my NiMH battery charger. Ha ha.

2 simple words of advice: hair dryer! No knife, goo-gone, etc. is really needed. Just heat the stickers up and peel carefully.

Hi

Just use your fingernail (try all 4 corners of each)

Any glue remaining..............you will be able to rub with your finger, and it will come off, the glue that is!

No need to use anything else..................

Use a belt sander to grind those stickers right off. Won't take but a second.

I got around to peeling them off tonight. The glue on mine was really tough and 80% stayed on the computer and rubbing made a real mess. A little strapping tape pulled it off though. (Sure glad I didn't have to get out the belt sander) :D
