I have a T43P that has a 1GB ram chip from IBM and I purchased a 1GB chip from a different vendor. I have been having serious issues wth the hard drive dumping memory. Should there be an issue with two chips from different vendors? If so, why are these after market vendors in business, unless you need to buy all new ram from one manufacturer.
Any thoughts?

I believe the T43P uses DDR2-533, if you were to get a stick of the slower stick then you might run into these problems.
Its been my experiance from buildin computers and recently building laptops, that sticking to a "name" brand company is worth it. Corsair and Kingston are great. I have had issues with no-name / unheard of companies.
