TP Z60m just purchased, crashed and no recovery

#1 Post by Kowalski » Thu Jun 29, 2006 4:33 am

Hello again,

yesterday i purchased my brand new TP Z60m ( 2529-EZG) just adding 2gb of ram instead of the 512mb factory installed.

Everything going well for the whole day, no symptoms or anything. During Evening, i went through all drivers update as well as Windows (XP Home ) update.

Restarting by restarting after all these, everything was again nice.

Last try to update the Rescue & Recovery (1,3 gb ) as well as DVD program ( i do not recall the exact name - 350mb ) using always thinkvantage system update, it crashed, and i can not get it to boot in anyway.

If i try a normal Windows startup, i get the message c:\windows\system is missing.

If i try to recover the system using Rescue & Recovery, i get the message lsass.exe failed (0xc0000005).

No way to do anything, system crashes all the time.

Should i try something different or rather fo for a fresh install using my own Windows XP Cds ( not patr of the package of course )?
In this case, how will i get the extra packages offored with the laptop to add them too? ( having in mind that i try to avoid downloading everything again, spending time and very precious i say, in order to find anything and install?)

Thank you very much

John

If you have an XP CD and a bootable CD drive, boot from the CD and enter the recovery console. Run chkdsk c: /f.

It may take a LONG time (hours) to run but it has always worked for me.
