Help Me Choose: X60 or X60s

I need to make a decision between two models... I can purchase the X60 for $1179 with Shareholder Purchase Program or I can pay a premium for a X60s for $1270 (about $90 more)... See below. Budget is important to me. I am leaning towards X60. Let me know which one is better value for money... Thanks!

Is the X60s worth the cost of extra money and a smaller hard drive?

X60 is far better than X60s.
A lot more disk space, bluetooth, fingerprint, longer warranty, better OS....

It depends what features you need - if they are the best models you can get for your budget then you have to decide if you need what is different, IMHO the OS aint a big deal, fingerprint is a gimmick and, although, i like all my devices to have bluetooth, I don't ever really use it. The HDD is the annoying one as 40GB wouldn't be enough these days I don't think

If your going the ultraportable route then I think size is feature number one so I much prefer the X60s to the X60 but i didn't quite realise how much of a premium the X60s had ([censored] costly low voltage processors) - the X60 is definitely the most bang for your buck.

You are right, I am not concerned about the OS as I can do the upgrade myself... Bluetooth and FingerPrint have little use to me... but hard drive does matter. I can upgrade it to 80GB, but that's $50 more... I just learnt that I may get some more discount for X60s, but overall, there is a difference about $100... if I upgrade the hard drive to 80GB...

I love the thinness of X60s, but I will be paying $100 more for a machine without Bluetooth and FingerPrint... and one less year of warranty... That's what I am struggling with...

$100 more for X60s -bluetooth - fingerprint would be worth it to me.

From the first time i picked up the X60s with the 4 cell battery, the X60 seemed too big and heavy - i know statistically there is very little difference but the X60s is just a cleaner design and feels better to me

well I personally own a x60s, if i am giving the choice and just look at the specs, the X60 is far better than X60s. 40G more + 2 year more warrenty + bt + fp. I will go for the x60.

The last is my X60's, but I have 8 cell battery and 1.5GB ram. It has the same size as the above mentioned X60s. With the 4 cell battery it is below the 1.4kg, with the 8 cell battery it is below 1.6kg.

I think the above is a comparison between (1) X60s with 4 Cell Slim Line Battery and (2) X60 with 4 Cell Enhanced Battery. [The 4 Cell Slim Line Battery though lighter does not give as much battery life on the same machine as the Enhanced 4 Cell...]

If you put a 4 Cell Enhanced Battery into the X60s, the back will be elevated up and the dimension (thickness) will be about the same as the X60. The weight of the X60s with 4 Cell Enhanced Battery will also increases... It is still lighter than X60 but maybe only by 0.2 lbs.

That's my understanding.

Maybe you couldn't get to the link because I accidentally added a quote bracket at the end. Here it is again:

If you read the link, you would see that your comment about the different batteries is not the case. The numbers I quoted were both for the same battery (4 cell cylindrical, which is also called the enhanced).

The document also lists weights for a 4 cell prismatic, which is obviously the slim line because it is not available for the x60. The weight for the x60s with the slim line is a crazy-low 1.22kg.

The conclusion is that the x60s quite a bit thinner and lighter given the same enhanced battery, and even more so with the slim-line battery.

If you don't want to take Lenovo's word for it, ask some of the other forum posters who actually own both models. A perusal of any of the active threads should turn them up.

It semms the only difference is the thinner battery in the x60s.
It is about 5-6mm between the batteries. But you loose it if you use the 8 cell battery like me.

I can make some picture from the bottom of my X60. Can you post the pictures from the bottom of the X60s?
