Driver needed

#1 Post by sufyan » Tue Aug 10, 2004 4:24 pm

Hey all,
Newbie here. I have a T40. It has the DVD/CDRW combo. It was recently re imaged and now, I dont have the drivers for the DVD. I have the drivers for the CDRW. That works. Just that it doesnt have the DVD drivers. I cant play DVDs on it anymore. I dont have the InterVideo software that came with it too.
I saw the link in the FAQ on this site for the drivers etc. It has the link to the InterVideo software upgrade. But since its an upgrade, it wont work coz it needs to have the original installed.
Any leads on what I can do?
Sorry abt the long winded post.
Thanks

The only way to get this from IBM is on the recovery CDs. You can call IBM and they will provode them (there may be a charge). You could also get the program from the IBMTOOLS folder on someone's T4x. Finally, you could just buy the siftware from Intervideo.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

So, if I get the Intervideo software from someone's T4x, that will be sufficient? I mean, am I correct when I assume, I wont need any other drivers for the drive?

Look in c:/IBMTOOLS/APPS/DVDPLAY--if you still have that directory, the whole program's there, on my T41.

And if this folder was wiped clean during the re-image, you can legally get a copy of the (IBM version of) the software from anyone that has it, as your computer came with a license for it.
