mic problem
mic problem
I had t42p around 3 weeks and I got problem with mic.
I tried build in and external mic talking with my friend through msn yesterday. Unfortunately, I heard what my friend said and he couldn't hear anything what I said. I had already configured my mic and it worked in setting when I tested out.
What happened with build in mic in t42p ? does anyone has problem like this ? I'll appreciate your help guys
Thx U

Hmm, you said the mic worked in the settings dialog, but what application were you using and how did it confirm that the built-in mic was working then? If your basic sound volume settings are ok it may be an application issue. Otherwise, just in case you haven't checked you also should make sure that the microphone recording volume is up and that it is not muted within the windows sound properties.
The microphone does not show up readily, go to your volume control dialog, click properties, turn the microphone control on for both the recording and playback radio buttons. Then select recording and click ok. You can choose to mute the line-in or the microphone (built-in) but not both. If you also want to hear the microphone through your speakers for testing, make sure it is turned on in the playback section as well.

I wouldn't blame IBM. Neither I nor any of my friends have been able to get any of our laptops, of several different brands, working for voice in MSN Messenger, even though the program says they're installed properly. I'm wondering if it's a firewall problem, since we're all using wireless routers and firewalls.
I haven't been able to use my T42 mic with MSN Messenger (latest version) either. I am using wired cable through ethernet. There might be something wrong with this build. But too bad we cannot download a previous version.
I am going to try Windows Messenger 5.0 and see if it works.
