Couple problems with new/used T23

#1 Post by pcfabix » Tue Jul 04, 2006 10:01 am

Hello, new to to the fourms, and just came back to IBM thinkpad, I just purchased this T23 about 3 months ago (see sig below) for some reason the first slot sometimes recognizes ram and sometimes it doesn't. Right now I have the factory stick the Samsung in it, if I reseat it, it's ok till I turn it off. I have tried other sticks there with the same results...I'm hoping it's not the mobo, when I had my 600E (different sticks of ram of course) after about 6 months of owning it, it had a similar problem and then the slot quit working all together, I had to replace the mobo on that machine.

Also I am getting a stop Error (Event ID 103 catagory 102) when I try to hibernate and come back, I'm running Win XP SP2 all patchs, I am using all the latest drivers from IBM and the latest bios I can find at the IBM/Lenova site. When I reboot it says to delete the hibernation point, I do and it's fine. The system says it's recovered from a serious error (reports of ACPI problems?) I have run the seagate fitness test and the drive is fine no errors.

I am hoping that I don't have to many gremlins with this machine, I really liked my 600E, but I first had an inverter board go, then the mobo problems, then I had the LCD backlight go, I made the biggest mistake of getting rid of it and going with a Compaq Armada M700, after 9 months of trying to live with that machine, replacing part after part, I decided to go back to an IBM, I got this machine as a whole from eBay for 250 dollars, I replaced the noisy stock IBM drive for the brand new seagate that I just placed in my Armada (reformated once in the T23), and I had to change out the factory dvd drive, for someone reason it wouldn't play any dvd +R but all my other players do.

Thanks in advance for any help :)
