R50E LCD: Grey smugges at bottom corners.

#1 Post by Legionnaire » Tue Jul 04, 2006 10:02 am

Hi all.

I noticed today that there are barely noticeable grey smugges at the LCD bottom corners. I am not very sure if they have just appeared or if they were there from the beginning.

Is this normal for an LCD? Their size is about the size of my mouse pointer.

Or maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me?

I think that they are normal for an LCD.

Are you talking about pressure marks?

I also have IBM ThinkPad R50e series laptop. After purchase i also thought
it's a problem. And i went to IBM servicing center. The technician said it's normal.
I did search over internet. Those grey or black colour apears at corners due
to power lights which are located at bottom side corners of R50e laptop. Nothing
wrong with it. It's also sure those bottom corners gets hot when ur laptop is
running for 5~6 hour's. It's also normal. As power goes from those corners to
whole TFT , it is obvious some how. :)

You are welcome. Also for additional info as your a new
user > If u find any dead pixel on ur TFT, IBM service people
dont entertain. There policy is, If in a square area there are
7 to 8 dots then only they change TFT, otherwise they say
Sorry we can't help. On my TFT there is a very very small
dead pixel, i went to servicing center, but they took print out
of rules paper and gave it to me.
