Power Leap Utility Installation Problem
Hi, I'm a noob in need of help. I want to upgrade some 770z/x Thinkpads and found a single download site for the Power Leap Utility, I tried installing it on a couple of different pc's with no luck. I get the following error message:
Powerleap CPU Control Panel Setup
An error occurred during the move data process: -113
Component:
File Group:
File:C:\DOCUME~1\WAVESK~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WZS2.tmp\data1.hdr
Can any of you kind souls help me with this?

You can get it here: www.rarlab.comSGypsyMermaid wrote:thanks for the suggestions, folks. I had no luck with the first one--will try the second one when i get home and will keep you guys posted. I don't have the software to open .rar files, though.

From where did you download the Powerleap utility?
I got it from the following link. I could open the file without any problem at all.
http://www.powerleap.ca/Downloads/PLeap ... _0_0_1.exe

that's where i got it...and i just tried again using your link...same "move data" error. could it have anything to do with the advanced internet options settings? i'm going to try unchecking/checking the option for installing software with invalid signatures--anybody think that that could be where the problem lies? mind you, i'm not anything close to being a geek, so stuff that you might expect to be common knowledge may not occur to me.
There was someone else who had this problem last year:
Problem installing PleapCCP_V5_1_0_0_1.rar
I don't know where this problem comes from. Maybe try turning off your virus scanner (after scanning the exe for viruses first!)? I would download the "exe" version from shined's link above to your desktop first and not run it directly from within your browser. Close your browser, run a virus check on the file, disable your virus scanner, and then double click on the file on your desktop and see if that makes any difference.
Do you know if you have "administrator" rights on your computer?
Lastly, if all you want is to enable your L2 cache, then you could try downloading this other version, which comes from Powerleap.com instead of Powerleap.ca:
PowerLeap Cache Utility
http://www.powerleap.com/downloads/util ... tility.zip
I think this is the version that I'm using on my 770Z, and all it does is enable the L2 cache. The CPU utility does quite a bit more than that I think, but I don't know for sure what the difference is between the versions or between the two companies. Also, note that there are lots of other utilities that will give you information about your CPU if that is all you want to use the utility for. The only reason to use the PowerLeap CPU utility is because of its specific ability to enable the L2 cache.
