T43 1.27 Bios update problem - How I resolved mine

I just upgraded from a T42 (Wife took it) to a T43. I got it off ebay. Yes I took a chance. So I spent the first day trying to get the thing running like I had my T42 going but I couldnt update the bios or controller. So I came here noticied others having the same prob, no results.

Run diagnostics on you HDD guys if you are having the bios update problem. I heard a clicking (yes on my 'new' laptop from ebay) and durring running PC Doctor diagnostics, the hdd hard crashed to await the ressurection. I got my warranty hdd today, installed it, restored and now the updates worked. Yahoo!
