wanted a serial ATA to 40 pin ide adaptor

anyone point me to a adaptor to turn a serial ATA laptop 2.5 inch drive into a 40 pin ide drive so i can fit it into my A31P Thanks

These are all over eBay for next to nothing. I just bought 3 of them for less than $10 shipped, in the USA. Since you are in New Zealand it might be a bit more, but there are some that will ship internationally, unless you can find one on eBay on your side of the water.

Can you send me a link to one of these? I didn't know anyone had come up w/ one that could squeeze into a drive bay w/ the drive. The only ones I've seen are the external adapters.

:oops: My mistake...I misread the question. I thought that you were looking for the connector to connect a laptop hard drive into a PC via the IDE cable.

I really need to read more slowly.

But with either of those, you can't FIT the HD + Adapter into the HD bay on an A31p (or any TP for that matter).

It think this is a product we all WISH would exist, but the size constraints of the HD bay just make it a practical impossibility.
