Intel GMA drivers..Lenovo or intel.com

#1 Post by scsgoal31 » Thu Jul 06, 2006 10:16 am

Does IBM do anything special to the Intel GMA drivers before releasing them either on system update or in the driver matrix?

Intel.com is about 2-3 version newer than Lenovo is. I downloaded from intel.com and they work perfectly fine. Any ideas if I should stick with the official drivers from Lenovo instead for any reason?

Intel's official drivers don't always work. One symptom I encountered is stretched display. i.e. you only see the top 1/2 of the display, but it's stretched out to fill your entire screen. Another is everything seem to work fine, but video is garbled. This happens with other notebook brands too.

The manufacturer's specific drivers always work perfectly, even if they are the same revision as Intel's and the installation process look exactly like Intel's.
