Max Harddisk space for T22 and T23

#1 Post by ttan98 » Sat Jul 08, 2006 6:50 am

I read it somewhere sometimes ago the max HD space for T22 and T23 is 40G operating under Window XP Pro.

Is this true? as I am thinking of upgrading my 40G 5400rpm to a 60G rpm 7200rpm unit.

thanks in advance...

A number of people here, including myself, have had 60G or larger (100G) drives with no problems.

Thanks...

Another question can I use Ghost S/W to duplicate my 40G HD to a 60G HD? If not then

I have to partition the 60G to 40G and 20G and duplicate it to the 40G partition, this is possible right?

Just to clarify, I think that the largest hard drive that a T22 or T23 originally came with was a 40gb. I have a 60gb in my T21 now, running XPpro.

Thanks Teege, so were you.

Of course, unlike you, I wasn't driving heavy metal to enchanting tropical locations.

Of course Philthydelphia is enchanting! What other airport can you not only smell the odors in the air but see them!

But I can't help but feel that your time in PHL is simply penance for all that time you spent in HNL!

For cost effectiveness, 5400 rpm is most cost effective....7200rpm gives marginal improvements for simplicity about 10% , the most 20% improvemnts in performance, about 70-80% more expensive

I was looking at the Parts list for the -23 a couple days ago for the wifi antenna part number.. under the hard drive sizes were 15GB, 20GB, 30GB, 40GB and 60G options, with the 60GB being listed for only 5 models.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4YYKVY

The original HD options for the -22 were much more limited:, 6GB, 10GB, 12GB, 20GB, 32GB.. 6GB??? I have mp3's bigger than that!

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... UYKLK.html

eBay has the 60, 80 and 100GB Toshiba and Hitachi's, quite a few actually, but the majority of those are either 4200 or 5400rpm, with very few (and very pricey) 7200rpm models.. The 40GB in my -8RU -23 is getting full, I have almost 6GB left :(
