Choosing first Thinkpad T42, suggestions on model

Have been reading this site in addition to other forums, great resource. I'm shopping for a notebook for school and personal use. Mostly I want to run some vitrual computers via VM Ware, or Microsoft's virtual pc. Also am learning Visual Basic so might need a larger screen, 15". There might be some gaming but nothing very heavy, just basic RTS games.

My current notebook is a Dell Lattitude CPx, PIII 500Mhz with a 14.1" screen. The screen is not too small but with a few windows opended in VB studio I think that would cause some problems.

So far from IBM's educational site I found the 23733XU to be the best choice. Below is the specs.

Intel 735 1.7GHz 2MB cache
15" SXGA 1400x1050
40GB 5400RPM
512MB
DVD/CDRW
3 year warr.
$1840

Right now the educational site is down but wanted to know if there is another Thinkpad that would be a better choice. I would also bring this notebook with me to school.

The notebook in question is backordered for two weeks so I have more time to decide. Any comments or is this notebook a decent deal?

it's a good price. Don't worry about the 2 week backorder. The shipping times are way over-estimated.
