Shutting off and dimming LCD => Potential CCFL Issues??

#1 Post by djpharoah » Mon Jul 10, 2006 5:19 am

Hi everyone.

I do a lot of compiling in linux and thus tend to leave my T41p on overnight for a couple of nights. What I do is just press FN+F7 to switch monitors (dont have an external one) so the laptops LCD just shuts off.

Will this be harming my CCFL tube inside the LCD? Should I continue to keep shutting it off when I am not there or just leave the LCD dimmed down to the lowest.

thanks

Doesn't T41p have FN+F3 option for turning off the LCD monitor?

I would say that it is better to turn it off than to dimm it.

You can just close the LCD lid. The screen will shut off.

Simple answer; don't worry and shut it off, that is what I do and there should be no significant ill effects in the short term or the long term as far as the LCD and CCFL are concerned. :)
