"Unkown device"

#1 Post by ooshnoo » Mon Jul 10, 2006 11:19 am

Hi Folks...

I have an "Unknown device" too...and don't know why. I've installed and run the ThinkPad updater numerous times, and I have every driver that's listed.

If someone could help me out in identifying this bad boy I'd appreciate it.

Under the Details tab of the device's Properties window,

the "Device Instance ID" is ACPI\ATM1200
The "Enumerator" is ACPI

Obviously it has something to with the PowerManagement or BIOS, but all that's up to date. Any thoughts... anyone?

That's the security chip embedded on the motherboard (Atmel 1200 TPM). You are probably missing some basic IBM/Lenovo software, so Windows doesn't have a device driver for it.
