T43 videodriver rollback

#1 Post by Torque » Mon Jul 10, 2006 2:31 pm

Hi Thinkpad forums.

Still having troubles with my screen when exiting standby, I would like to roll back, installing an earlier driver version.

Having browsed the support sites, I cant seem to find a section for downloading earlier releases.

Can anyone help out?
Any specific way to roll back? My thoughts are to uninstalling via the add/remove menu in windows, rebooting and installing the package.

Have you tried Windows System Restore?

Using Restore would set me back a couple of weeks, as well as take out all the applications I use. The machine and whole install is only a week old :)

So I would rather just install an earlier video driver.

If you haven't removed it, the install program for the original video driver for your T43 should be in the following directory: C:\IBMTOOLS\drivers\VIDEO.

Usually if you click the red button on your internet browser, and check for available updates, it should allow you to roll back to a previous driver.

I have done this in the past with my video driver.

After having several driver related blue screens messing up everything, I decided to recover the machine. To factory condition. Heck, the install (and machine) is only a week old.

So now I've kept the driver installed and will only update when a brand new one comes along :)
