T23 and Seagate ST980815A harddisk
Hello, I'm facing the problem that the harddisk will not be recogniced by the BIOS. I upgraded the BIOS to the actual Version 1.18 from july 2004 but the disk still does not work. The disk seams to be ok, cause it works very fine in an external USB case. Does anyone of you use a T23 and that Seagate disk. Does anyone have an idea why the disk wont be recognised (from IBM there exists a firmware upgrade for the 7200 Version of the Disk (ST980825A), so that disk seems to work)? Does anyone have an idea what I can do to get the disk work.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

According to the information on the Seagate site, the drive should work.
You may want to run the Seagate Diagnostic Software (SeaTools) available here:

Please provide some additional information.
Are you certain the drive is correctly installed in the T23? Are the pins properly seated? When installed in the T23 and the machine is turned on, do you get any error messages? Does the drive spin up? Does the hard drive activity light go on? Are there jumpers set on the drive (master/slave)? Anything else you may think relevant.
Thanks.

Yes I am certain, the disk is installed in the same way like the original travelstar. The pins are seated properly. The first error is:
PXE-E61: media test failure, check cable. Then I get:
PXE-M0F: exiting Intel PXE ROM. And the last one is:
Operating System not found.
Also in the bios there is no + at the harddisk entry. I can feel the spin of the disk when power is on, also the disk activity led lights permanently. There are no jumpers set at the disk (like original one) so it is in master mode. As mentioned the disk works in an external USB case and the BIOS is the latest one. Sorry I dont know any other relevant things by now.
Thanks
