A31 PC Card bays aren't responding to any card?

#1 Post by IBbroke » Wed Jul 12, 2006 8:42 am

I cant seem to figure this one out, maybe someone has a suggestion. I tried erasing the PCMCIA adapters from the device manager and letting them re-install, but that didn't work. Thought maybe a complete system recovery might work, but nope, just dumped all my programs. Oh well, we'll call that spring cleaning. I tried 2 diffrent wifi cards and neither recieved power in my pc but did in others, and I tried a card reader whitch also didn't show up. Device manager shows no conflicts. Anyway, any Ideas?

Make sure the PC Card slots are turned ON in the Thinkpad Configuration Utility.

Thanks for getting to me so quick, I opened the utility and there is not a green light next to the PC card slots. However when I try to change it, it brings up the safely remove hardware box, listing my DVD-RW and My expansion bay battery, nothing else, even with a card in the slot.

What version of the configuration Utility are you running?

Latest is 1.52.

Get it here.

Hmm, well I gave it a try. Since I did a system restore it had reverted to 1.23 or something like that, so I did follow the link and update it to 1.5, still if I go to the configuration utility and drop down ->HELP->ABOUT... I get version 1.23. Also still clicking on th pc card slots I get the same Safely remove hardware window with no cards, just the stuff in the bays..

Nevermind, I had to uninstall the old utility first. It's now up to date, unfortunately same results.
