IBM 11a/b/g Wireless Lan Mini PCI Adapter

There is an update of the driver of the IBM 11/a/b/g for the T42. Reading the instructions, I believe it to says that you have to first Uninstall Access Connections before updating the driver. This sounds insane. I have the latest version of Access Connections. Why should I have to uninstall it just to update a driver? Then, reinstalling Access Connections is never mentioned in the instructions for the PCI Card update. I want to keep my wireless current, but this sounds like an unnecessarily complex recipe for disaster. What gives?

yes, this IS what you hav eto do. I have had to do it a couple of times, it doesn't take the driver update without doing this.
