Memory Uprgrade Question

#1 Post by sevenx » Wed Jul 12, 2006 3:26 pm

I recently purchased a T42 (2373-4VU) and would like to max out the RAM on the machine. 2 x 1 gb (31P9834)

I've seen a few posts recently about memory upgrades with non IBM/Lenovo parts not working properly.

Am I best to go with IBM/Lenovo parts. It looks like going this route is going to cost me about $50 extra CDN per DIMM.

I'd really like to go the OEM route, but I want to ensure that system stability is preserved.

Also, if I open the case to install a DIMM under the keyboard is that going to void my warranty?

Any memory that meets the specifications (1GB SDRAM SODIMM 200-pin DDR333/PC2700 CL2.5) will work perfectly well. Warranty is not voided by changing memory in either of the 2 slots.

I bought some Transcend memory (1GB) from newegg.com for 69 USD. Works fine in my T60.
