Warranty service upgrade

Hi,

I recently purchased a X41 Tablet. The purchase was made online from the US site. I have got an email from IBM the subject of which is "Protect your ThinkPad X41 Tablet with a warranty upgrade". I did not take any warranty service upgrades when making the purchase.

I have thus only the default warranty which I'm not sure is 1 yr or 3 yrs, international ??.. some one please confirm.

People who are aware about such options please guide me, under what circumsatances such an upgrade will help ? ... is it essential? what type of upgrade is useful ?

Usually, three years should be enough, but if you're planning to keep your comp. for 5+ years, then maybe you should consider adding more warranty to it and the "thinkpad protection" for accidents. You usually can use your homeowner's insurance, however.
