AC adapter. Standard 3.5 Amps - Can I use 4.5 Amp adapter?
I'm sorry to make another post about this as many have asked similar questions but I can't seem to find threads which answers my question.
The standard AC adapter for my X41 (the one that came with the machine) is a 16V 3.5 A adapter.
My parents' adapters for their T42's are 16V 4.5 A.
Can I use their adapters without it affecting the battery condition?

Should be no problem, when I'm at home I'm running my X41 with the old AC/DC combo adapter, I think it has the same specifications. But to be sure you could check the IBM/Lenovo product page for your adapter (could it be this one?) - the compatible ThinkPads are listed there.

Okay so as long as it has higher amps it is good? I was just being afraid that too high amps would charge it too fast which wouldn't be good for the battery... ?sugo wrote:Yes since voltage is the same and 4.5 > 3.5.
I can't really tell if it's that one since my adapter has FRU P/N 98P5023 and the T42's adapter has 08K8203.Grey Area wrote:Should be no problem, when I'm at home I'm running my X41 with the old AC/DC combo adapter, I think it has the same specifications. And it says it isn't able to find any of them. But it aint able to find my laptop either.
I also just found this page:

Well... from this page it seems like that both 72W and 56W adapters are compatible with the X40 series.

I guess it wont do the battery any harm to use my parents' adapters then.
