Normally, eBay is a good source for vintage ThinkPads and parts. On average though not always, the risk of geting scammed shrinks with the age of the computer/part so you're pretty safe looking for 770 parts there though you still need to excercize some caution if you go that route since you can never be too careful.

For a new battery, I'd expect to pay around $40 or $50 for one as that seems to be the average going price for most LiION battery packs.
