POST bootup lag
POST bootup lag
Brand new T60 (2007-B91) when I press the power button the ThinkPad logo appears, this stays on for approximately 63 seconds and then the screen goes black for another 32 seconds, and then Windows XP starts up...very strange and annoying. In Windows everything seems to be fine no issue so far.
I checked the settings in the BIOS to make sure it's set to quick boot, and also made sure it's not performing extended memory test. I should mentioned that this is with 1.06 BIOS, I updgraded to 1.07 but it didn't make any difference.
I also reset the BIOS settings to default and then modifed it back to my prefered settings but no go. Any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion.
I didn't think about that since the BIOS is detecting the amount of RAM I have in there correctly and also I have no issue when it is booted up in Windows i.e. it's detecting 1GB RAM which is correct.
I tried what you suggested anyway and still no difference, oh and I also tried different RAM chip that I pulled out from another T60 I barrowed the result is the same.
I think I may have a bad system...

I believed that your T60 still have warranty. Bring it down to the service centre and ask them to check your TP for you.

@northstar Welcome to forum.thinkpads.com
edit: Actually mine is something similar to your problem. I think the BIOS is detecting your HDD. But so far i used no problem but just windows XP appear very slowly.
Been using this T60 for 3 months already and it is a steady workhorse and so far it is working fine.
If you feel a bit uneasy with the startup, then look run PC dcotor when you get to windows and check your computer for error or damages.
