I am actually looking forward to Chip Wars II and having even more competitive pricing from both Intel and AMD. The downside, though, is that they will start to decrease the product cycles of some chips, meaning the old feeling of hardware that is top of the line until a few months pass and they come up with the next generation of it.

In short: Core 2 Duo is extremely fast, with even low end E6400 model often matching AMD's FX-62. The high end E6700 and X6800 processors absolutely smoke everything.
This is a sign of things to come. the mobile Core 2 Duo processors (Merom core), are going to leave everything in the dust.
