ThinkPad T20 - dreadful keyboard

#1 Post by K. Eng » Thu Jul 13, 2006 10:54 pm

Ok... I have a used ThinkPad T20 here and the keyboard is absolutely abominable. The left hand side is a bit soft, but the right hand side is flexing all over the place like a Dell from 2003 :?

I used foam to stabilize a T40 keyboard before. Does anyone know if this works on the T20 as well?

Check that the screws are in there properly, my T23 is firm as a rock with its keyboard.

Might be hard to add foam to the left, but, you could certainly give it a shot

Yeah, I agree with Bgradid. The only time that any of my T2x series have been flaky like that, has been when the keyboard wasn't completelt screwed down (I was testing other components).

Those keyboards rely a lot on the edges snapping down and they will be mushy if the keyboard is bent with the edges low and the center high. Take the keyboard out and see if it is flat or not. They are flimsy and bend easily.
