All Zeros UUID ?!
All Zeros UUID ?!
I just got a used like new T43p with 2+ years warranty left. I press ed the blue Access IBM button to verify the system information. I found out that the serial number and the model type matches with what is on the box but the uuid is all zeros. There is a valid UUID on the box though. Should I be worried about getting some shady stuffs? What I can do about it? Please advice.

hi mate,
I wouldn't be too worried. I had the same problem a while back with a t41p i used to have. I had an issue with it and the ibm engineer came out and repaired it, but seemed like he never put on the system ID.
The biggest problem i had was that certain ibm propritery software wouldnt install (like the battery maximizer) because it couldnt verify the system. If you do not have problems like that, then I wouldnt worry.
Regards,
holr

Thanks for your reply. Have you tried doing a system recovery without a valid UUID successfully? If you succeeded, I wouldn't be worried. Do you mean UUID for the system ID you mentioned?holr wrote:

Anyone had this all zeros UUID please share your experience....

I don't know who did that; but I can say that repeated bumpings, within a short enough period of time, of posted threads to keep them at the top of the stack "artificially" is not really a good thing to do.freedomtraveler wrote:i'm interesting in what the moderator said~fongph wrote:I just got a used like new T43p with 2+ years warranty left. I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I havent tried the system recovery (by that i assume the ibm software and stuff that comes with the system?) - usually remove the hidden partition and stuff straight off to get more hard disk space. I wouldnt assume success either - if battery maximiser wont install for me then i would guess something more serious like the whole system wouldnt work either....fongph wrote:
