Adding WWAN card / OR / Open-bay's are listed

#1 Post by furball4 » Fri Jul 14, 2006 6:59 am

I'm ordering a T60 and definitely want the internal WWAN option (Verizon, preferably). But it only comes installed on a small number of models. I would much prefer to be able to choose from all the T60 configurations and just order the card separately. Is that possible? I haven't seen anyone talking about it here, which makes me think it's probably NOT possible...

Another tack: Lenovo is actually displaying several open-bay models right now. If you click "customize", a few hundred dollars is immediately added to the price. But if you just plunk it down in the cart it stays cheap. Assuming that I could actually get one of these shipped it might provide an inexpensive WWAN configuration option.

This model, for example, has the Verizon WWAN card:

With 1GB RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... TC-dealram

and a 60GB SATA hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822146039

and a mini-PCI wireless card, this is a pretty smoking deal at around $1250 after tax and all shipping costs.
