how do you make an eeprom image from a working laptop
Is there any program I can use to create a good eeprom dump image from a working laptop WITHOUT soldering wires to the chip? Can I do this with the IBM maint disk?

eeprom
the only way i have done this was with a quick solder. it sucks but is the best way. Me and my buddy threw around the idea of using the dental molds to make a hardened mold of the outside of the chip on the board. THen drilling holes where the leads are and sticking wires in there and fastening them togather with glue or more mold. that way you can just slip the mld on top of it. You would have to make a specific mold to each model i believe. Are you trying to reset the security password?

Re: eeprom
I am trying to repair a corrupted bios thanks to a dead cmos battery and laptop battery during startup. I do not have any password issues.semaj wrote:the only way i have done this was with a quick solder. it sucks but is the best way. eeprom dump and repair
you will most lilkely go the route that is advertised on http://allservice.ro
- build a eeprom reader/programmer from the supplied schematics
- get the dump of the eeprom
- purchase the eeprom writer software ($30)
- send them the dump, they will repair the file it and send it back to you for you to reload using the $30 eeprom writer software.
