Text on the screen no longer appears

#1 Post by Annorax » Mon Jul 17, 2006 10:47 am

I have an R51 running Windows XP.

Up until recently, the text that appears on the screen when I adjust volume, use the back/forward buttons, etc... no longer appears. I remember playing with this in some setting somewhere but I cannot find it anymore.

How can I turn this text back on?

The volume/forward/back keys do work, but the text is not appearing. Is there any way to turn the text on without reinstalling the drivers?

Also, the Access IBM key does not work anymore...

I don't know about the R51, but on the X41T there is a way to enable/disable the on-screen text display:

Control Panel > Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > On Screen Display.

There is no "On Screen Display" option on my R51.

Check thinkpad configuration, display, (at the very top of the window) can't tell you exactly where but there is a setting for OSD, you can turn it off and on. If it is not there you 'll need to reinstall the drivers.

Thanks everyone. I reinstalled the drivers and it worked. What made it stop working I have no idea, but at least the problem is resolved.
