Has anyone done a study on the multimedia burner media?

Which media type is the best to use for archive purposes?

Which format will be around the longest?

What is the highest quality media you can buy?

I am looking for long term storage for digital images to back up my other methods of backup.

Save yourself some space and back-up on DVD unless you don't have much to back-up...700mb or less. I think DVD's are here for ahwile...and would take 6 CD's per DVD. They are cheaper and cheaper. I've found that the e-gear DVD's at Target are just as good as any and if you buy in a pack of 25 or more, they work out to just over a buck a piece. If you don't mind buying from the internet, there are some good deals too, but stay away from no names and SKY media...they're awful. I personally like Maxell and TDK media too, but the Target media is just as good. Make sure you get the right format..."-" or "+" media for your machine...from what I've read here, "-" is the right one for Thinkpads.

Good luck!
