701C No signs of life

#1 Post by xenos » Mon Jul 17, 2006 3:39 pm

I've had a 701C in the bottom of my desk drawer at work for some time. Last time I turned it on it was in working order, running WinNT. Unfortunetly, it no longer starts up for some reason. There are abosolutly no signs of life. No lights, fans, etc. Completely dead. :(

I've missplaced the power adapter and tried getting it to start with a T series adapter. The plug is the same, but I realize the voltage isn't. So, my question is: is the puppy not booting because the voltage is wrong or could it be purhapse the CMOS battery. I've had 600 series thinkpads boot with error codes after sittign around for long periods of time. Swapping out the CMOS always did the trick.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
