All seems O.K. so far after starting up with repaired IBM branded; will run a week alone then switch to micron for the same. will then try both 256's.

yippee! thanks Ray and other members for the assistance.

i'll post again if anything abnormal pops up.

Good to hear that! I was just going to check USPS to see if it had been delivered yet. Hope not to hear that you got a re-visit from that fellow named Abbie Normal :) .

A final thanks and update: after running awhile on IBM and Micron 256 seperately and together I've had no problems. Also ran memtest 86+ with no errors over 24 hours.

Thanks,

David

OH MY.

I've abandoned my T23 for sometime after having the same problem, and today, i glanced over the thinkpads forum and now there's a solution for this.

rkawakami,
geez man, where'd you acquire those memory fixing skill ?

i think i'm having the same problem with those SPD thingy, should i just replace my memory ? which i doubt i could figure out if the new sticks is going to have the correct SPD bits.

ps.
reading your other thread, i'm using a high density 256mb memory, 4 chips on each side.
should i try replacing it with a low density memory ?

Should be no need to do that. The T23 is able to use high density modules. The 512MB sticks I have in a couple of my systems have a total of 16 parts on them. The 256MB version have 8.

An update on my problem,
i decided to run memtest86+ for a longer period today and after a couple of passes it found many errors on test #5.

Checked on google,
there are dozens of people experiencing this error also.

I wonder if this is the reason i get hangup & freeze problems.

I've ordered for a new T23 systemboard,
and tomorrow i'll check my memory module using a friend's T23.

ps. Thanks for the help ray, =)
