Can't get bluetooth to work
Hi guys,
As you might have read I just got my laptop back from getting a new LCD. While it was getting repaired I got a razr phone, and I want to connect it to my laptop via bluetooth. The icon on my desktop that says my bluetooth places doesn't work, and I was under the impression that when you click on this it brings up a wizard to connect your devices. I also installed motorola phone tools for the razr and that program is not picking up the bluetooth signal either (yes the bluetooth is enabled on the phone). It's not picking it up in the control panel either. Anyone have any ideas of what I could do?
Thanks
-Matt

I bought my 2623D6U in June. When I got it I updated the TP Bluetooth firmware with version 2.1.92.108.
I am using a Bluetooth mouse (Logitech V270) and I am able to connect to my Motorla E815 via Bluetooth using the Motorola Phone Tools software.
Do you know which version of the Bluetooth firmware you are using? May be you should check if you are due for an update.
Have you tried to find other Bluetooth devices besides the Motorola Razr?
Good luck!

I'm curious, did you have to use the Bluetooth receiver provider with the Logitech mouse or does the integrated Bluetooth in the T60 support the wireless mouse?guYom wrote:I am using a Bluetooth mouse (Logitech V270) and I am able to connect to my Motorla E815 via Bluetooth using the Motorola Phone Tools software.

There is actually no receiver with that particular mouse.
All I had to do was to install the Logitech software that comes with the mouse (Setpoint).
So far I am very happy with that mouse.
There is another Logitech mouse that looks almost identical as the V270 but comes with a USB receiver for laptops without Bluetooth as I recall (I don't remember the model number, the mouse looked the same in the packaging except for the colour which is a lighter shade of grey than the V270).
I was thinking of getting the more pricey Di Novo keyboard / mouse Bluetooth combo, but I decided not to break my wallet and went for the V270 (about 40USD or so) and I found a nice black USB Kesington Keyboard for Life (for 14USD only, very simple and super flat). I bought all of this at my local Microcenter and still have a few days if I want to return, but the combination is actually working well for me, so it's a keeper.
The mouse is great, big enough to use in my office as my permanent mouse, not too bulky to carry around when I am mobile. The signal between the mouse and the TP is fine too.

First make sure that BT is turned on and check what you have under Bluetooth Devices in Device Manager.
If that's all OK and clicking on the BT icon in your system tray, in the control panel or on your desktop doesn't open MY Bluetooth Places, then you had better reinstall the BT software. Use TP Software Installer.
Let us know how you get on.

Current: T60p (2007-93G). Previous: T23 (2647-9LG).
The mouse will run without SetPoint. But you sacrifice some configuration options. For example, I like to set Wheel Click = Backspace which one can't do with the MS generic mouse SW.young guy wrote: I'm curious, did you have to use the Bluetooth receiver provider with the Logitech mouse or does the integrated Bluetooth in the T60 support the wireless mouse?

Losing connection to Bluetooth mouse
I'm also happy with this mouse, EXCEPT that periodically the conenction is lost. My Bluetooth Places then states that the mouse is connected and that the signal strength is good, but the mouse pointer is firmly stuck. Attempts to disconnect and reconnect produce such messages as:guYom wrote: All I had to do was to install the Logitech software that comes with the mouse (Setpoint).

-- "Your Bluetooth device could not start the search for devices"
At that point I must reboot to see the mouse again.
I don't know if it's specific to this type of mouse. Maybe it's something general in Bluetooth. Any ideas? (Of course, I have the latest firmware and software.)
Bluetooth certainly isn't for the faint-hearted!

Anthony,
I have experienced (yet) any of your issues with the Logitech mouse. However, when I connect my Motorola E815 (I did it a couple times to synch my Outlok contacts with the phone) I noticed that the connection is not as solid as with the mouse, I loose it, I have to wait until the phone and the TP are again linked.
Have you tried resetting (button at the bottom of the mouse) the V270?
Ironically I actually bought the mouse upon your recommandation...
Do you have any other Bluetooth devices connected to the TP besides your mouse? I know you were looking at headsets. I went to local Microcenter and saw a couple of these ranging from 100USD to 160USD, I think I'll hold on for now, still a bit pricey for my wallet. I'd rather get a good conventional one, maybe a small Philips I saw with noise reduction and airplane adapter -- earbud style. Still undecided. I'll use the 'el chipo' Sony ear buds (10USD) until I make up my mind. Although Bluetooth is of course very tempting!

Yes, of course.guYom wrote: Have you tried resetting (button at the bottom of the mouse) the V270?

I sync with my Palm and connect to Internet via my GSM phone when on the road. All works fine.Do you have any other Bluetooth devices connected to the TP besides your mouse?
I also have a Targus BT mouse which connects without additional software. I'm going to work with that for a while to see if it also loses connection.
I got no recommendation in reply to my request. Anyway, I've wasted enough time with BT recently. If it all works, it's fine. But, if something doesn't work, then it's hard to know what's going on.I know you were looking at headsets.
Of course, it would be nice to go and fill my wine glass without unplugging the earphones. À ta santé!

Just downloaded the software off of lenovo's site. When I try to open my blue tooth places it just stalls for about a min and I get a pop up box that says can't find any connected devices. No blue tooth manager or program works, btw this is what it did before, why can't I open this dumb program?

Re: Losing connection to Bluetooth mouse
The same issue happened to my V270 as well, i can just press Fn+F5 to power off then on the bluetooth to fix it.Anthony S wrote:I'm also happy with this mouse, EXCEPT that periodically the conenction is lost.
