Is there any way of removing the "safely remove hardware" programm which is preinstalled on WinXP. I use the "easy eject" software from IBM. Thanks a lot.

Will not remove it, but you can permanently hide it by right-clicking the task bar; select properties and then select 'Customize...' find MS eject and use the pop-up menu to select 'Always Hide'.
