2nd harddrive and jumper?

#1 Post by technux » Wed Jul 19, 2006 7:33 am

I have successfully installed a second harddrive in a 2nd hdd adapter on my T40P which I'm going to use for dual booting.

I'm able to boot my primary harddrive when the 2nd hdd adapter is not installed, but when it's installed it always boots my newly added second harddrive, no matter what I select after pressing F12.

Am I supposed to use jumper setting to get it working?

I just set the boot order in the BIOS and then use F12 on startup to select the drive I want. I set BIOS for the primary drive. Seems to work. ... JD Hurst

Thank you for your reply. Do you set the primary or the secondary harddrive as the first boot device in order to have it working with F12?

I don't think there is any way to set it as master or slave on a 2.5 inch drive.

I agree, although there are instructions for jumper settings on the harddrive there is no room for the jumpers.

I have tried to change the boot order in bios and it works fine, but I still just boots the disc I have set as priority one in bios, regardless of what I choose using F12.

Something is wrong. It doesn't matter what order I set the BIOS, F12 will override it. If it doesn't, perhaps the second drive is not properly bootable. ... JD Hurst

What do you mean by not properly bootable? I can boot it without problems as long as no other disc i present. Am I missing something?
