Internet Explorer crashes & keeps shutting down
Internet Explorer crashes & keeps shutting down
Hi,
Sorry to writing perhaps a somewhat irrelevant thread; but I just wanted to know whether you are also experiencing the same thing. After getting T60, oddly, whenever I surf the internet it frequently shuts down for whatever reason. Since I hardly experienced such frequent crashes in my previous machines including two TP it makes me wonder what the problem is. First it seemed that the problem is related to the Flash. So I mostly disable the flash; the problem seems to abate. Plus, Firefox seems to be okay, but, Firefox kicks in very slow--don't know whether it is usual--so it annoys me as well. So I'm still not sure what the real problem is. Has anyone experienced this or resolved it? Thanks for reading.

Re: Internet Explorer crashes & keeps shutting down
I also got this problem on my R52 before. It also annoyed me alot and i just beat the R52 HDD to death. When you click on something, it will load up very very slowly and finally when the green bar reached the 3rd bar, IE experience error and must shut down. <--this is plain annoying. I also want to know why. What's the reason behind this. Is it because it is telling us that it is time to defragment our HDD or maybe our HDD is going to fail or the IE software on our comp got some bugs or unknown viruses??? Please explain to both of us. thanks.heiss wrote:Hi,

Okay, I'll try to download it; but definitely it is not a problem of virus or spyware. My hdd also is in great condition.Kyocera wrote:Try downloading IE7 from microsoft and see if the behaviour continues. You could also scan for virus, spyware, etc.

I had a similar problem several months ago caused by a virus, spyware or something similar, which corrupted IE. At the time I did not have a Firefox extension and to download and reinstall IE required IE...
Eventually I downloaded XP SP2, which has IE in it and extracted IE.

Cache and viruses are likely suspects. I keep my cache (1) small, and (2) under control via CacheSentry Pro. I generally have no problems with IE 6. That said, I did have an IE error on my Desktop a day or two ago. Rare to have that problem and it hasn't recurred. Probably something on a web page I was at. ... JD Hurst

I have IE7 running on all my computers (4) and have not had to uninstall IE6. Its a simple download from microsoft. Yes JD is talking about temp internet files, clear everything out, cookies. If your current version of IE is corrupt K0lo may have a point. If you're going to update IE7, make sure to uninstall the current version before installing a new version.
Yes, I meant "Temporary Internet Files" (cache is another name).
I also meant to uninstall previous versions of IE7 before updating to the newest version of IE7 (Beta 3). You DON'T have to uninstall IE6 if that's your current version of IE.
Sorry for the confusion.
