question about x60 and x60s?

#1 Post by cqxiao » Fri Jul 21, 2006 2:54 pm

Hi,

I recently bought a x60 and I really think it is a great little machine.
The only thing I don't like it is the right hand plam gets a little bit warm if I use wireless. (say when downloading a big file)

The question I have is whether X60s will be cooler.
I have read the forum and it seems some people say it is cooler and others say there is no difference.

Also, my APS reading is about 47c with wireless on.

thanks
Chong

47 degrees seems quite low and I don't think an X60s will be noticeably cooler. I have seen APS temperatures up to 60 degrees reported. See this thread for reference: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=23539

I have personally tested several X60 & X60s models at my company for just this reason. The result is that proplerly functioning systems demonstrate the temps are nearly identical and certainly no difference of any signifcance between the X60 vs X60s.

My personal X60s is very quiet, stable and cool running. When I do large file downloads the is no noticeable increase in the temp of the palm area.

47C is pretty cool. The x60s will not be cooler. It might even be hotter.
