7hours battery life?

#1 Post by ParzanM » Fri Jul 21, 2006 9:40 pm

quick question...i know this has been discussed too much but i have a quick question.....

1)at the bottom right hand i have a % of how much battery is left...i heard u can make it to show "time left" say "3:50 hours" or something? how do you do that

2)the ibm battery meter is always lower than the windows battery meter....eg IBM --4:15 Windows reports--- 4:37
which one should i follow?

Thanks
ParzanM

sorry its just that i think i saw it in someones post....7hours or something he had it in his signature....

None are really accurate, as they both go for a median value - using the current charge and the current power consumption.

I only use the IBM one.

I'm not use my ThinkPad as I type this, so can't check the exact mouse clicks needed, but on most T4x models if your right click on the green batterty icon on the task bar, a menus appears from which you can select an option to change the display to time remaining instead of percent remaining.

Edit: OK, on a T43 now.... when running on battery power, left single click on the green batterty icon on the task bar, then select the Show item on the menu. This will give you an option to display time remaining.

The menu will not display when running on mains power.
eg IBM --4:15 Windows reports--- 4:37 which one should i follow?

Well, its an immutable law of the universe that IBM and Microsoft will never really agree on anything! :D However, the IBM meter is more accurate than the Microsoft one in my experience.

Cheers,

Bill

You need to download the Power Manager from Lenovo. Not the Old Battery Maximiser...

ok i downloaded that...now where do i change it so i see time left instead of percentage...when i right click i see

options are (from bottom to top)
bat info
launch batt max wizard(did this didnt find anything)
menu text size
improve batt health
replace/remove batt
graphic power management enabled
view scheme settings(did this also)
OPTIONS TO DIFF POWER SCHEMES(eg max bat life)

I dont see anywhere i can change from percentage to time left....
