Laptop help...

#1 Post by Saysana13B » Fri Jul 21, 2006 10:55 pm

My brother has an Acer Aspire 3000 WLCi. He dropped it today while plugged with the AC Adapter. It langed on the Adapter part that connects to teh Laptop and say that it doesn't work anymore (the adapter). So he turned it off and brought it to me. I figured that the Pin that the female adapter connects to is broken, which I was right. I could hear clunking noise.

First, a little history. The laptop has been giving us plenty of problems. Mostly LCD screen related. We've brought it in a few times. Thank god for warranty but my parents are anal about it, not wanting to bring it in so many times believing that "they'll get sued" (Asian people, I swear). But seriously what are warranties for?

So I took the laptop apart, a little to crank it open to take the shaky thing out. So it comes out, the pin looks fine, probably just pushed out of place. I tried to turn it back on with the battery but no luck.

So my question to you guys is, because the pin is out, is there no closed circuit from the motherboard or w/e to the battery? I really hope I didn't screw anything up by opening it.

Warranties are about repairing component about failures, not reairing accident damage.

As for advice on Acer laptops, you'd probably have better luck on a Acer specific forum, if there is such a thing.

Cheers,

Bill
