Help with network card in a T22

#1 Post by sundance » Sat Jul 22, 2006 5:31 pm

I can't seem to get the wireless card I have installed in the mini-PCI slot to work. There are no messages or indications the card (Intel Pro wireless 2200BG) is not installed correctly or that it's not working but I can't find the network or connect. Does any one have any directions on setting this up, It's a T22 running Windows 2000. The one message i do get is that the network cable is unplugged.

Thanks,

Steve

Lots of things could prevent your wireless card from working. Here's a checklist of items as outlined by IBM's web site on troubleshooting wireless problems:

Ray,

any other advice? There was nothing there that I haven't already
tried . Also I think that was for XP and I have Win 2000. Everything indicate the card is installed and working but there is no connection and I only get that the cable is unplugged.

Thanks,

Steve

If you haven't already done it, download the Intel WLAN Connection Software and use it to manage your wireless connections. AFAIK, Win2000 doesn't support WLAN like XP.

I don't know what AFAIK means and the software at the link is for XP ...I'm running Win 2000. Are you saying this card does not work with 2000? What do you mean by the above statment? What does that mean for me trying to get it to work with Win 2000?

Thanks,

Steve

The software is for:
Intel website wrote: OS: Windows* 2000, Windows* XP 64-Bit Edition, Windows* XP Home Edition, Windows* XP Media Center Edition, Windows* XP Professional, Windows* XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows* XP Tablet PC Edition

I'm not familiar with wireless on a W2k system. But as far as I remember, you will need an additinal program to configure a wireless network under W2000. It normally comes with the drivers. You should get it up and running with the Intel software.

That is my problem as well. (don't know Win 2000) XPee is no problem, it almost does it by it's self. But 2000 I'm in the dark. I have installed the software from Intel. It appears the card is installed and working fine I just can't seem to get 2000 to set up a connection. It shows the LAN connection but no WLAN. when I use the setup provided under network connections it wants to create a dial up connection but gives no option to set up a WLAN.

Anyone elese have any help on setting up the WLAN connection in Win 2000?

Thanks,

Steve
