Does my T30 have bluetooth? If so, how do I enable it?

#1 Post by Maximus » Mon Jul 24, 2006 1:05 am

I just recently discovered that my IBM T30 2366-61U ThinkPad has a bluetooth button directly beneath the LCD screen...I didn't know what the button was for, but since buying a mobile phone I came to know a lot more about bluetooth etc.

When I press the button nothing happens. I have re-installed my OS several times (factory default), so this may be the cause...

My question is does the button mean I have it built in? And if so, how do I enable/install bluetooth?

Thanks in advance.

unfortunately, no. you probably don't have it. if a bluetooth module is installed, a green light will come on when you press the button.

the safest way of finding out though is to open the double-screw plate underneath. if the tiny module screwed in there has two connectors leaving it, you have bluetooth.

if it's not there: the BMDC200 card can be bought directly from IBM for around 20 dollars. it has bluetooth & modem onboard, and works perfectly fine in my t30 (right now). its better than the simple bluetooth module, which doesnt support all transmission protocols.
